“I Felt Like Dying!” — The Shockingly Extreme Methods “The Glory” Actress Song Hye Kyo Used In Preparation For One Heartbreaking Scene
One of the hottest K-Dramas worldwide has to be The Glory! The story is extremely brutal and showcases the harsh realities of Korean society as a young woman, who was bullied to the point of deciding to drop out of school, plans the best way to get revenge.
The leading actress in the show is iconic star Song Hye Kyo, and during the show, she impressed fans with her unbelievable acting that really immerses viewers into the storyline.
After the first series ended earlier in the year, netizens couldn’t hide their excitement when a second series was announced, and it’s less than 24 hours until the premiere.
Ahead of the next series, the cast has been doing press conferences and chatting with fans about what to expect, but also TMI stories from the first series. Unsurprisingly, Song Hye Kyo looked stunningly elegant at the event.
During the event, Song Hye Kyo revealed how much effort she put into her role and her preparation to create such a dramatic impact on screen.
In particular, there is one scene where Song Hye Kyo reveals her scars to Lee Do Hyun, and after seeing his reaction to one on her arm…
She continues to take off her clothes and show the full extent to the trauma she suffered.
In the press conference, Song Hye Kyo shocked fans when she revealed just how much she did to prepare for the scene, including the diet she followed and how it impacted both herself personally and the scene.
I dieted diligently for that scene. I only ate bananas for three days, and I didn’t even drink water the day before. Because of this, I felt like dying while putting on the special effect makeup. I think the scene came out better because my body was going through hardships.

The look itself took around 4-5 hours to put on. It wasn’t surprising that Song Hye Kyo revealed the impact it had on her skin and why it was so memorable.
Because I put on the special effects makeup so often, my skin had a lot of trouble. That was the most I’ve focused on my appearance, so that situation is most memorable.

When the interview was released, netizens reacted to Song Hye Kyo’s dedication to the role. While some thought it was a lot just for a role, others praised the actress for showcasing so much dedication and loved that she showcased her skills and power on “International Women’s Day.”
#SongHyeKyo said in the presscon of #TheGlory that her makeup (and scars) took 4-5 hours to make, that she didn't eat for 3 days, and didn't drink water before the day of the shoot to pull off this scene in #TheGloryEp6.

As always, the world of acting is far from the glitz and glamor people expect. While red carpets and events are nice, the stars put in blood, sweat, and tears to prepare for the role and create a character that resonates with viewers.
