Actress Go Joon Hee Blames YG Entertainment For Her Entanglement In The Burning Sun Scandal
Actress Go Joon Hee was once a household name. Due to the Burning Sun Scandal, her name was eventually tarnished and she took a long break from the industry. On a recent episode of Don’t Forget Your Breakfast, she was finally able to tell everyone how much she suffered.
Go Joon Hee explained that she was not close to Seungri at all. It was during a charity event for cancer awareness that Seungri approached her, asking for a selfie together.
As they were both from YG Entertainment, she agreed to the photo. She did not know that he eventually posted it on his Instagram account.
Later on, when the scandal broke out, a screenshot of the text messages shared by Seungri and his friends were revealed to the public. In the screenshot, an actress was mentioned.
- Seungri’s friend: Okay, so you said the girls have to come by 8pm?
- Seungri’s friend: [actress] went to New York.
- Seungri: Noona went to New York again?
Due to the friendly term of address, netizens immediately assumed that the actress mentioned must be close to Seungri. After combing his Instagram, they landed on Go Joon Hee’s selfie with Seungri, deducing that it must be Go Joon Hee who was involved. Go Joon Hee blames her then-company the most. She approached YG Entertainment to ask them to release a statement to deny her involvement.
YG Entertainment ignored her pleas, and did not release any statement. She could not step out on her own due to the fact that she was bound to the company. It was only after she left the company close to a year later that she was able to employ her own lawyer to deal with things.
Despite that, her image had already been tarnished due to YG Entertainment’s failure to speak up on her behalf. Timing is of the essence, and no one was willing to listen to her a whole year after the incident broke out. She had to cancel multiple projects and upcoming works.
