The “Goo Hara Act” Confirmed To Be Included In The 4th Basic Plan for Healthy Families
The “Goo Hara Act”, which has been promoted by the National Assembly’s Administrative Safety Committee member chairman Seo Young Gyo, has been included in the Fourth Basic Plan for Healthy Families, which will be the basis for promoting family policy for the next five years. This plan was confirmed after deliberation at the State Council presided by the President on April 27.
The need for this bill has been voiced by most legal organizations and civic groups such as the Korean Bar Association and Seoul Bar Association. Chairman Seo Young Gyo strived to pass the “Goo Hara Act” by holding a policy discussion meeting with the National Assembly in order to form a consensus with the Ministry of Justice. These efforts paid off as the “Goo Hara Act” was successfully able to be included in the Fourth Basic Plan for Healthy Families plan.
Chairman Seo commented, “I think it’s fortunate that the ‘Goo Hara Act’ is included in the basic plan for healthy families, which is the basis of family policy. Parents who abandoned their children are the same as abuse and neglect and they do not have the right to their children’s assets.”
Previously, the “Goo Hara Act” officially passed the National Assembly in South Korea.
In a battle between Goo Hara’s older brother and their mother over the late singer’s inheritance, the act was officially approved into law. This act will “restrict survivor’s pension on inheritances for families who failed their parental duties”.
