BamBam joined the NBA (The National Basketball Association) Warriors Pregame Live ahead of the Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers game on April 7 at the Chase Center. He was there as the Warriors’ Global Ambassador and the first K-Pop idol ever to perform an NBA halftime show.
The hosts, Bonta Hill and Chris Mullin, asked BamBam about how he handles fame. BamBam’s popularity was likened to Stephen Curry who is so famous that he has a bodyguard with him usually.
Talk about your rise in K-Pop. How do you deal with the fandom ’cause Steph Curry is a megastar, and you see how he moves around. How do you move around, man? ‘Cause, you’re a star!
— Bonta Hill
Though BamBam is an international superstar, he has remained humble. Not only that, but he doesn’t view Ahgases as fans but rather friends or even family members.
You know, like actually, I’m really down to earth. …I don’t want to call them as fans. I would say we are friends; we all family.
— BamBam
Since BamBam considers his fans as his friends, he does not mind seeing them even in his free time. Besides that, most are respectful.
So, you know I don’t feel bad … [with] them around even on my private time and stuff like that. I appreciate everyone, you know. …And they always like have some respect for like my private life or my private time all the time. Yeah, so … I’m chill about it. I love like what’s happening right now, yeah.
