GOT7’s BamBam Was Quick To Shut Down A “Racist” Comment—Except, Well, He Was Just A Bit Confused
In the latest episode of Business Genius CEO Baek (also known as The Restaurateur Paik), GOT7‘s BamBam was spotted on the streets of Marrakesh, Morocco.
While walking over to pick up his meat order, BamBam heard some locals shout, “China?” at him—an assuming comment that viewers have since interpreted to be racist, regardless of intention.
BamBam was quick to answer, “Korea,” making it clear that he’s from Korea…
…except, in a few seconds, he realized he’s—in fact—not Korean!

Oh, wait. I’m from Thailand.
— BamBam
Viewers found the brief interaction to be endearing, despite the ignorance involved. Throning BamBam an “honorary Korean,” viewers praised the idol for not missing the chance to correct the locals and be proud of his (not-actual-but-almost) roots!
- “Hahaha. I’m OK with his spirit being considered Korean.”
- “He’s Thai-orean. LOL.”
- “Bahaha! BamBam is hilarious. I love him.”
- “He’s from Thailand but he’s more Korean than some Koreans out there.”
- “BamBam can be an honorary Korean. We accept that.”
- “I like BamBam, haha. He’s such a nice dude.”
- “Greetings, fellow Korean.”
- “I mean, I’m not mad about him being Korean. He definitely could pass. Haha.”
- “BamBam is so funny. He’s so harmless, too. Haha. This show makes me kind of nervous because of how things are in Morocco. But BamBam will find a way to make me chuckle.”
- “Been living in Korea for too long, huh? LMAO.”
- “So cute.”
- “He must have gotten confused because he was on a Korean show, haha. Laugh it off! It was funny!”
- “It’s my first time watching BamBam on a show and I’m falling in love with him because he’s so hard-working and kindhearted. Before, I just considered him another idol from Thailand, but not anymore.”
This is not the first time BamBam has shown love for Korea and desire to continue promoting in Korea. Read more about the time he almost quit the K-Entertainment business, but decided not to.
