Recently, Jackson appeared on DIVE StudiosDaebak Show alongside hosts Eric Nam, Ashley Choi, and BTOB‘s Peniel.

The idol spoke about a variety of topics in the episode, but a specific moment has stood out and led to a debate, with fans defending the idol.

At one point, the four begin playing games, including one that requires writing in Korean. After Jackson get an answer incorrect, he stands and walks away after playfully tossing the note book away. The original post that gained attention claimed that Dive Studios edited the clip on YouTube but not Weibo, and supposedly contained Jackson saying the N-Word.

With how many idols have recently been criticized over cultural appropriation recently, many reacted with surprise and criticism.

On the other hand, many have come to the idol’s defense, referring to his habit of using “brother” when speaking and providing proof that was said instead. DIVE Studios does not have a Weibo account, meaning the clip most likely came from the original YouTube video before it was altered.

And though this confusion does not help, those pointing out the recent incidents show why an edit to avoid misunderstandings could have been made.

However, many on both sides have called for Dive Studios to release the full clip of the moment uncensored, and address the situation as a whole.

As of writing, no statement has been released.
