Who Is GOT7's Leader While Jay B Is Fulfilling His Mandatory Military Service? BamBam Responds

GOT7‘s BamBam recently revealed who is the current leader of the group as Jay B is fulfilling his mandatory military enlistment.

Jay B, the leader of GOT7, quietly enlisted, shocking everyone. Most discovered that Jay B had already enlisted when the Korean press Herald Corp shared on February 10 (KST) that Jay B made a generous donation of ₩60.0 million KRW (about $47,300 USD) to the Green Umbrella Child Fund Korea organization. They wrote, “Jay B is currently completing his military duty as a public service work personnel.”

Previously, Jay B did hint about enlisting this year when he released his album Seaonal Hiatus. The album contains a calendar dated from February 2023 to November 2024, the approximate length of time Jay B will be gone to carry out his 21 months of service.

Since GOT7’s leader will be busy fulfilling his duty for a while, some have wondered if another member will step up to the position in the meantime. Some K-Pop groups choose to have interim leaders when one serves in the military while they’re still active. For example, while MONSTA X‘s Shownu has served as a public service worker, Minhyuk has acted as leader. Shownu will finish his service on April 21, and Minhyuk will enlist on April 4.

So, during a recent live broadcast via Weverse, an Ahgase asked BamBam if he is the leader until Jay B returns from the army. This sparked BamBam to laugh.

BamBam replied immediately, putting an end to any speculations. Jay B has always been and will always be the leader of GOT7, even during his enlistment.

Even (if) Jay B hyung is in the army right now, leader is gonna be leader forever. No one is gonna take that place, and I don’t want to take that place from him.
