What Hannah Bahng Really Thinks About Being Called “Stray Kids’ Bang Chan’s Younger Sister”
Hannah Bahng is a YouTube star with almost two million subscribers and a singer-songwriter who debuted with the track “Perfect Blues” last year.
Among K-Pop fans, however, she is known as the younger sister of Stray Kids‘ leader Bang Chan.
She recently sat down for an interview with the Zach Sang Show where she talked about a variety of topics including her childhood dream of being a K-Pop idol and almost debuting in HYBE‘s girl group KATSEYE.
She also opened up about how she reacts to being called “Bang Chan’s Sister.” Though it used to bother her, she has now accepted it.
I think I had struggled with being in the shadow of my older brother. [But] I think I’ve come to terms with it.
— Hannah Bahng
She explained that she knows she can’t change the fact that they are siblings. She loves her brother even if it comes with the pressure of being related to him.
I mean, by blood, we’re related. There’s nothing I can do about that. Love him. Love you!
— Hannah Bahng
Though she does not mind being related to the K-Pop star, she hopes that her listeners will be able to focus more on her music than her family matters.
But I guess I felt the need to say it to my fans because I just want people to be able to hear the music that I make…and I want them to hear it for what it is. And I want them to hear the emotions that I put into it.
— Hannah Bahng
Hannah recently released her EP The Abysmal which includes tracks such as “Pomegranate,” “Vertigo,” and “Abysmal.”
