University Festival Forces Guests To Throw Away All Personal Belongings Before Entering
Hanyang University recently became a hot issue on Korean community sites due to its strong restrictions.
Non-university students and the general public stood in line for tickets starting early in the morning and were told they would have to go to the back of the line if they left to go the bathroom.

Is the ERICA campus crazy? They’re telling the people in line that they can’t use the bathroom. If you go, you must go to the back of the line. They even said there are no exceptions, even if you’re on your period. What the hell?
Wow…I’m entering now and they’re touching our pockets and opening up pouches. They’re even taking our sun umbrellas and fans. They’re making us throw away all drinks if it’s not water. They’re even opening up unopened water bottles and smelling them to make sure. They won’t even let us bring in some pieces of chocolate. How are we supposed to endure the show in the heat with nothing? Why are they going as far as to do this? Is the president coming or something? I’m worried an accident is going to happen.
They even had people throw their personal belongings in the grass before entering!
진짜 한양대 에리카 풀숲에다 던지라고 그래요ㅠ
진짜 던지고 옴ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅠㅠㅠㅜㅠ

Hanyang is making us throw our belonging outside before entering so we really left it there. Please don’t take it…
Not long after, people began to post about the belongings left outside being thrown away!
Hanyang student council, who are they to say they won’t throw away the personal belongings left outside only to change their words and throw them away? I went to put my slogan at the inspection station, but now they’re throwing them away? I left it there because they told me to pick it up afterwards…
Taking a look at the prohibited items list, they listed basically everything except for cellphones.
“Prohibited Items:
All food and drink (except for water with a lid), anything that blocks the view (umbrella, slogan, light stick), anything that interrupts the performance (whistle, tent, folding chairs), all devices excluding phones, all disposable items, selfie sticks, dangerous items (sharp objects, lighter, spray, etc), high heels.
*Anything else that the staff finds dangerous can be prohibited.
*We will not help with the storage of prohibited items (we will not take responsibility for lost items)
*If found with a prohibited item after entering, you will be forced to leave.”
Netizens couldn’t understand why they were going through all this trouble at a university festival.
- “Isn’t there a price for non-university guests? What’s going to happen if they lose the items.”
- “They don’t even do it like this for the president lol.”
- “What are they doing.”
- “Crazy…are they looking for drugs? What the hell is going on.”
- “Why are they like that???”
- “Why do they need to go this far? What’s the reason.”
- “Why are they like that? Is it because they’ve never hosted an event like this before? They should do their research…”
- “They are really abusing the use of power…what kind of level is this.”
- “Isn’t it better for everyone to hold their belongings…all that is going to become trash.”
- “They are worse than airport security.”
- “What are they doing? Is it fun to abuse the use of power on a hot day like this?”
- “Why are they doing this. Is someone important coming? So ridiculous.”
- “I thought the president was coming the way things are going…”
- “Why though…?”
