Haters Mock BIGBANG’s Taeyang After His Concert Gets Cancelled
BIGBANG Taeyang’s upcoming concert in Jakarta has been called off.
On January 10, KST, LIVE NATION, and Taeyang’s agency, THE BLACK LABEL, put out a joint statement informing ticket holders that Taeyang’s “2025 Tour [The Light Year] In Jakarta” concert, which was scheduled to take place on January 25, had been canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
The announcement reassured fans that all tickets will be refunded. However, there was no further indication of whether the concert will be rescheduled to a later date.

While this announcement has greatly disappointed fans, it has also brought an unexpected amount of hate and ridicule. The majority of the hate comments were related to Taeyang’s comments in a recent CNN interview, in which he stated that his group contributed to K-Pop’s recognition in the global market.
Thankfully, we were able to open doors to global markets for many K-Pop bands that came after us. And they can perform on world stages. I wouldn’t say we presented that, but it feels great that our efforts have played a part in that.
— Taeyang
Many took this comment out of context and started flooding the singer’s Instagram posts with “BTS paved the way” comments. The concert cancellation announcement has also garnered similar comments on X (former Twitter), with many making snide remarks about BIGBANG and Taeyang’s popularity.

The vitriol against Taeyang has been so severe that it prompted CNN to release the full clip where he made that comment. His full response offered more context to what he was actually trying to convey. You can read more about it here.
