BLACKPINK‘s Lisa is set to star in HBO‘s third series of the hit show The White Lotus.

On August 5 (KST), a first glimpse at the show was released. While Lisa was not seen, it raised anticipation for what they might expect from the idol’s character.

New photos were also posted.

When the video of the clip was posted and then shared by various big accounts, it gained a lot of criticism for its “coloring,” which had a yellow tinge to it. Although many people might not see any issues, Hollywood often uses this hue to try and portray “third-world countries” or a difference from Western countries, normally negatively.

The K-Drama Reborn Rich also came under fire for using the same tone to show Istanbul.

After netizens saw the teaser, they were furious that such a stunning country like Thailand was being represented with a color that seems dull and “dirty” rather than showcasing the full beauty and vibrance.

Many fans hope it was just the teaser and that it won’t be foreshadowing the actual series. Lisa has always proved her love and respect for Thailand, showcasing the most beautiful and strongest aesthetics, and it seems a shame that it is being overshadowed by Hollywood stereotypes.
