Hit K-Drama “Sky Castle” Confirmed For A Remake — Meet The Cast
The immensely popular K-Drama SKY Castle is getting a remake!
Since its release in 2018, the iconic JTBC series has been one of the most-watched K-dramas from domestic and international audiences.
Its new adaptation will be produced by TV Asahi in Japan and is scheduled to premiere on July 25. According to Variety, the remake follows a recent cooperation agreement between Korean content giant SLL (formerly JTBC Studios) and TV Asahi.
The original SKY Castle cast was part of what made the show so iconic, so here’s what we know about the Remake cast.
Leading the cast is Nao Matsushita, who will take on the role of Han Seo Jin (originally portrayed by Yum Jung Ah). Matsushita is well-known in Japan for her diverse acting career, including her recent performance as Madoka Miwa in the 2023 series Code Japan: The Price of Wishes and as Erika Aoe in the film Kaze no Kanade no Kimi e, released in early June this year.
Koyuki will play the formidable exam tutor Kim Joo Young (originally brought to life by Kim Seo Hyung). She is a celebrated Japanese actress who gained significant fame from her role in the 2003 drama Kimi wa Petto alongside Jun Matsumoto. Her most recent work includes portraying Hana in the Japanese sports TV drama series Sanctuary.
Additionally, three other prominent actresses — Fumino Kimura, Manami Higa, and Maryjun Takahashi — have been confirmed for the cast. However, their specific roles among the three remaining “girlbosses” in SKY Castle have yet to be announced.
