“Hotel Del Luna” Is Getting An American Remake Version
Popular tvN drama Hotel Del Luna starring IU and Yeo Jin Goo is getting an American remake version by SkyDance Media.
Back in February, CJ ENM and Studio Dragon, the production company for Hotel Del Luna, signed a partnership with Hollywood production company SkyDance Media to joint produce and invest in global content such as dramas and movies. SkyDance is a company that has worked on movies such as Terminator, 6 Underground, and Mission Impossible, as well as dramas Grace and Frankie and Altered Carbon.
This project between CJ ENM, Studio Dragon, and SkyDance is unique as Studio Dragon will have equal production say during the entire process of the producing the drama. Studio Dragon will take the lead in areas such as drama planning, production, and other related projects. Despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, all sides are working on the project through weekly conference calls. Studio Dragon has also completed the establishment of its own USA branch.
The American remake version will be written by Alison Schapker, who is known as the executive producer for the 2nd season Netflix‘s Altered Carbon. She also has worked on ABC‘s Scandal, and FOX‘s Fringe. Both Studio Dragon and SkyDance commented on the partnership.
We are very happy to be collaborating with world famous production company SkyDance and the talented Alison Schapker, and we are looking forward to the future.
The fact that the first project for our joint collaboration is Hotel Del Luna, a Studio Dragon IP, shows that our work is globally competitive. We will lead the project to a success, and become a premium drama studio around the world, to create more international dramas that people can enjoy and enhancing the status of Korean content.
