HYBE’s Recent Announcement About Its Artists Sparks Fury Because Of NewJeans

“You’ll have to report yourself…”

This article is part of our coverage of HYBE vs. ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. You can read more and view the entire timeline here.

HYBE operates under a multi-label system. This means that the company acts as an umbrella company with many sub-agencies that work independently to manage their artists’ creation and promotion of music. The various subsidiaries under HYBE include BIGHIT MUSIC, ADOR, Pledis Entertainment, and many more.

Yet, a recent HYBE announcement about centralizing a system has sparked anger among fans of NewJeans.

On September 23, the social media of all artists under HYBE had a new announcement on Weverse. It was a link sharing that there would now be a unified portal for netizens to report the “violation of artists’ rights.”

Yet, while many fandoms welcomed the hopefully more streamlined way to send concerns to HYBE about the artists’ safety being violated, netizens were “furious” when the same post was shared to the ADOR X account in relation to NewJeans.

The content of the post was the same, with the Weverse announcement sharing details of the new platform and how it would be different to the previous system, along with how it intends to be used by the company.

When the post was shared, netizens hit back at the announcement, particularly due to the ongoing feud with HYBE and former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin, which has also seen the members of NewJeans get involved. Many explained how the company that has been “trying to ruin their reputation” are now the ones in charge of “protecting” NewJeans.

While ADOR is under new leadership following Min Hee Jin’s removal, the relationship between the company and NewJeans has been strained, and you can read Hanni‘s comments about it below.
