“Is It A Nuisance?” HYBE’s Bang Si Hyuk Spills On His Real Thoughts About BTS’s Enlistment And The Impact On The Group’s Future
One of the most discussed topics in K-Pop has to be South Korea’s mandatory military enlistment for males. In particular, it has been a hot discussion when it comes to BTS after the members personally canceled their postponement.
BTS’s Jin was the first member to enlist at the end of 2021, and during and after completing his training, the group’s oldest member has kept fans updated on his progress…
As soon as fans thought they could take a breather, J-Hope then shocked fans with the announcement of his enlistment, ensuring to reassure fans and even releasing a special single for fans.
Recently, HYBE’s founder Bang Si Hyuk sat down for an interview with CNN and, along with chatting about their acquisition of SM Entertainment shares, he unsurprisingly spoke about BTS.
While he pointed out that it would be nice to think that the slowdown of growth in K-Pop was because of BTS’s enlistment…
The host Richard Quest got real with the founder asking if he found the enlistment “a nuisance.”
Bang Si Hyuk was unsurprisingly honest and explained that from a career standpoint, nobody would want to be away for a long period of time. Yet, it was something different from the mindset that Korean men faithfully and gladly serve their country.
Yet, he then revealed that the members had been discussing the enlistment since 2018 and that they wanted to make it into a career turning point rather than a hindrance. In particular, Bang So Hyuk pointed out that after all the hard work and schedules the group has done, it would be a break for them.
It’s obviously true that they needed this time of rest after such an intense period of hard work.

Even though BTS is one of the biggest groups in the world, even Bang Si Hyuk believes they need to keep evolving by changing and growing as artists.
While it is going to be hard for ARMYs to send off the BTS members, it seems like they have been discussing it for a long time. The group has been traveling, doing schedules, and performing non-stop for what seems like forever, and hopefully, they can go and return safely with freshness.
