New Netflix Trailer For HYBE’s KATSEYE Receives Major Backlash For BTS Mention
Netizens have raised anger after part of Netflix‘s new trailer for HYBE‘s girl group KATSEYE was seen as disrespecting BTS.
On August 5, Netflix posted the trailer for the series Watch Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, which followed the creation of KATSEYE in collaboration with HYBE and Geffen to make a global girl group.
Yet, one clip has sparked backlash. During the trailer, they spoke of BTS and HYBE.

Netizens particularly saw the scene regarding HYBE and BTS, and took offense to it.
ARMYs explained that HYBE didn’t “create” BTS but that the members built the group themselves with hard work. They also added that comments about taking the “K” out of K-Pop and making it global seemingly undermine the impact BTS has had worldwide with their own popularity and increasing eyes on the genre of K-Pop.
