HYBE’s Recent BTS-Related Post Earns Universal Criticism

Many were not pleased for different reasons.

As the end of the year approaches, many media organizations and platforms will release data from the last year. This includes the streaming platform Spotify, which releases multiple lists of the top streamed artists on the app.

K-Pop artists are included in these lists, even having a genre-specific announcement.

On December 5, the official BTS account shared an update announcing Jimin‘s ranking on Spotify Korea’s charts. Jimin earned the top spot in both the song and artist categories for Korea, and this was acknowledged in a tweet.

However, the wording of the tweet was not entirely well-received.

Many fans were critical of the company not mentioning Jimin by name, even in hashtags, accusing it of not supporting Jimin’s activities.

The post also inspired anger on behalf of Jungkook.

Jungkook was named the most streamed K-Pop artist globally on Spotify, as well as other music streaming sites.

Rather than the anger be directed at Jimin, fans criticized the company for not acknowledging Jungkook’s achievements as well.

This is not the first time HYBE and BIGHIT Music have been accused of incompetency related to Jungkook, which you can read more about below.
