Industry Insider Appalled At HYBE’s Internal Report Regarding Appearance
HYBE’s internal documents, which are already causing a stir in the industry, grew even bigger when an email in which chairman Bang Si Hyuk instructed the writer to add additional people to the list was revealed.
On October 30, HYBE’s Lee Jae Sang posted an official apology, but the situation doesn’t seem to be dying down.

As if the documents weren’t already shocking enough, the fact that high-ranking officials distributed the content every week has destroyed the trust in the music industry.
This controversy started after the report was revealed during the National Assembly’s state audit on October 24.
National Assembly member Min Hyung Bae obtained and revealed the said document: a “weekly music industry report” featuring crude and low-quality online community reactions about K-Pop idols from other entertainment agencies, said to have been collected by HYBE employees.
Many were surprised at the number of so-called “face reviews” in music industry reports. Comments such as “They’re surprisingly ugly,” “The synergy of their ugliness is unbearable,” and “The members are so ugly, no wonder they couldn’t rise to fame for a long time” were included in the report.
These comments make it difficult to find even the slightest bit of respect for the artists who have grown into the global industry. Industry insiders who read the document were shocked at the content.
