On December 11 (KST), ITZY shared a teaser for their upcoming album, and it was already bittersweet as the members would be promoting as four members as Lia is on hiatus. As expected, it served badass AF vibes.

They also released concept photos.

As much as fans loved the concept, the video came under criticism from fans as the members were accused of plagiarism. Yet, rather than just one group, netizens said that ITZY were plagiarizing concepts of aespa and BLACKPINK. In particular, with four members active, many saw the similarities even more.

Yet, when the criticisms from netizens started to come in, fans of the group were quick to come to ITZY’s defense. Some pointed out that there was always going to be comparisons, especially as the members would be promoted as four members. Others shared that this concept was something ITZY has done in the past.

In particular, they pointed to songs like “Mafia in the Morning,” “Ringo,” “Voltage,” and many more that had the same vibes as the teaser.

With so many amazing girl groups with badass concepts, there are always going to be fans who believe there are overlaps with vibes. Yet, many have pointed out that the similarities come from the vibes of the groups rather than the intricate details of the concept.
