ITZY Fail To Impress Korean Netizens With “Gold”
ITZY’s much-anticipated album GOLD made its debut on October 15, marking a significant return for member Lia after a break from group activities due to health concerns.
The album features 11 tracks, including the lead singles “Gold” and “Imaginary Friend.” Additionally, it includes five re-recorded songs from their earlier 2024 release, Born to Be, with the full group performing as a quintet.

Despite the high expectations surrounding GOLD — especially fueled by its teasers — the initial reactions from Korean netizens have been underwhelming. Many had expressed excitement over the concept and sound previews, but now that the full album is out, the response has been mixed. In particular, Korean fans appear less than thrilled with the title track “Gold,” finding it lacking compared to their expectations.
Some netizens have voiced their disappointment, pointing out that while the visuals and overall production quality are impressive, the song itself has failed to live up to the hype. For many, the excitement built up by the teaser melodies didn’t carry over to the final release, leaving them wanting more from the group’s musical direction.
- “I was waiting, wondering when the chorus would come in, but more than two minutes had passed.”
- “It’s not even about whether the song is good or not. What kind of music is this…?”
- “No, seriously, what is going on…?”
- “The visual directing is good, but the song is…”
- “Can’t they do a song that’s more refreshing and exciting? The visuals are so good, but this song is just really not it.”
- “Sucks that I got my hopes up after hearing the melody in the teaser… What is this? My expectations shot up during the intro… ITZY is a group I really like, and I hope they get good songs, but why does this keep happening?”
While the title track may not have impressed, fans have already claimed some of the b-sides in the album to be the group’s best ever, so make sure to check out GOLD on streaming platforms.
