Fans Criticize JYP After Excessive Photoshopping Leaves One ITZY Member Almost Unrecognizable
This week, JYP Entertainment unveiled the adorable concept teasers for ITZY’s Season’s Greetings—but in one teaser photo, fans say excessive Photoshopping has left one member near-unrecognizable…
Titled Best Friends Forever, ITZY’s 2022 Season’s Greetings set has four gorgeous concepts, each themed around a different time of day. With the set jam-packed full of stationery and even a behind-the-scenes DVD, fans have been excited to see the set’s teasers since the preview dropped on social media.
However, when the “Day” concept teasers were uploaded to Twitter yesterday, fans were left confused by one of the photos. In fact, numerous MIDZYs say they couldn’t even recognize the member in question at first…
Feeling just as confused? It’s actually Ryujin! But why does she look so different?
While there’s no solid evidence that the image has been edited, fans are convinced JYP Entertainment’s designers went overboard with Photoshop. In particular, some say her nose and mouth shape both look different than usual.
Wait I think ryujin’s face was too much edited. Jype what happened? While I Zoom their pics you can clearly see on her nose and mouth

Others were simply shocked at her unexpected appearance, joking that they would rescue Ryujin from the company—or that she looked like a new ITZY member entirely.

RYUJIN SWEETIE ITS OKAY IM GNA GET YA OUT OF THERE

And in amongst it all, many MIDZYs criticized JYP Entertainment for editing Ryujin so heavily when she’s naturally so beautiful.
you’re fucking done jype what have u done to ryujin

jype what did you do to my dear ryujin

Interestingly, Ryujin seems to be the only member who was edited excessively in the teasers. Yeji,
Lia,
Chaeryeong,
and Yuna all look like their original selves, say fans.
While mild Photoshopping is common in the K-Pop industry, when fans can’t recognize their own bias, things have definitely gone too far. Plus, while no one should be struck by excessive editing regardless of how they look, it certainly feels unnecessary to completely change the face of someone so pretty.
That said, Ryujin is unfortunately just one of many idols who have fallen victim to unfair Photoshopping…
