The term refers to a person’s personality growing arrogant or snobbish as a result of popularity. As one of the most beloved artists in Korea, IU is often the subject of speculations about catching the “celebrity disease,” no matter how many times they are debunked.

In her latest YouTube appearance on channel TEO, IU tackled the topic head-on in the most unfiltered manner. Talking about her popularity and success, IU gave most of the credit to her luck. “Compared to my skills and talent,” she stated, “luck did the most in my life.” IU reasoned that there are so many talented people in the industry but only someone with luck could receive love and success for as long as she has.

IU then talked about the topic of “celebrity disease,” denying that she had any. In a hilarious explanation, the singer stated that she couldn’t have it because “it’s logically impossible,” adding that she didn’t even find herself important enough to develop such a mindset. “Someone might say, ‘IU is bi*chy.’ That’s because I am bi*chy. Not because I have celebrity disease. That’s just because I was born to be bi*chy.”

The K-Pop diva also admitted that apart from self-objectivity, she’s also blessed with the ability to overlook mean opinions. “I’m not easily hurt,” she explained, agreeing when MC Jang Do Youn remarked that it was a great quality to have for a celebrity.

With such a self-assured and easygoing nature, no wonder IU has been able to navigate through the tricky life of a singer-actor for so long and achieve sustained success!
