IU, Girls’ Generation, and SISTAR top Gallup Korea’s 2014 favorite singers list
On December 18th, Gallup Korea revealed the results of their annual survey asking Korean citizens who their favorite singers of 2014 was.
The survey, which was held during the months of October and November, polled 2,774 Korean men and women over the age of 13. The results of the poll revealed IU, Girls’ Generation, and SISTAR were Korea’s favorite singers of 2014, garnering 12.9%, 12.4% and 10.5% of the vote, respectively.
IU’s release of her remake album “Flower Bookmark,” in addition to her numerous collaborations (which include Ulala Session, High4, Seo Taiji and Yoon Hyun Sang) have caused a rise in her popularity. In addition to topping Gallup Korea’s poll, the LOEN Entertainment singer has also won several awards this year, including Best Artist of the Year at the 2014 MelOn Music Awards and Most Popular Vocalist at the 2014 MAMA.
Girls’ Generation, on the other hand, has consistently ranked quite high in Gallup Korea’s annual poll, and their release of their mini-album “Mr. Mr.” this year only helped strengthen their ranks.
SISTAR gained a boost in popularity from their new hits “Touch My Body” and “I Swear,” which also earned them “Best Female Group” at the 2014 MAMA.
Other notable artists to crack the list include EXO (9.4%), Lee Sun Hee (8.4%), and Girl’s Day (7.9%).
