IVE’s Live Vocals Become A Hot Topic After Recent Performance
Fourth-generation girl group IVE has left netizens surprised with their live vocals.
Despite being one of the top girl groups of their generation, IVE is no stranger to criticisms about live singing. In the past, some of the members got embroiled in a controversy over lip-syncing, which further ignited a scathing discourse on the group’s singing skills.
But it seems that a new page has turned in the court of public opinion about IVE’s live vocals, with the group delivering continuously good live performances during encore stages.
#IVE After LIKE encore ( clearer live vocals version ). you can hear it sounds better without all the noise and weak mic volume. IVE definitely one of the stable vocalist group out there. #AfterLIKE2ndWin pic.twitter.com/OnplJZwjxN

On May 2, KST, the group performed their latest single, “HEYA,” on Mnet’s music show, MCountdown.
The group’s live performance managed to impress netizens, who showered it with praise in online communities.
- “Ahn Yujin’s live adlib was f*cking refreshing…”
- “It’s likable because it has that Korean vibe.”
- “Why is Leeseo’s part so good? Was Leeseo always this good?”
- “The live was good and Annyeongs (Yujin and Wonyoung) are such eye-candies TT.”
- “Ahn Yujin’s last adlib sounded like it was almost raw live. They always have very little AR, only in the choruses.”
- “Leeseo’s vocals are really underrated.”
- “I don’t understand why people criticize IVE. If you want to listen to cool and atmospheric music, just find something that suits your taste. They clearly know IVE’s fanbase is young but they say IVE is failing because they’re outdated…IVE tries out a different style every time and don’t really have much to criticize in their songs. Instead of beating them down because you don’t like them personally, just ignore them and don’t watch, LOL.”
