Netizens were shocked at the treatment he received, as he was born in 2007, making him a minor.
- “What is this?”
- “Most Japanese shows are like that…”
- “I remember BoA went through something similar back in the day. I wonder why Japan broadcasts do things like this.”
- “Wow.”
- “Wow.”
- “Even if this is a culture difference…I hate it.”
Many netizens were also furious that something like this was still allowed on broadcast.
- “Wow, do they do this to Korean idols too? Why are they hitting him? Even if he is Japanese, he’s still a K-Pop idol. Do they think it’s ok to hit him just because he is Japanese?”
- “Are they crazy? Why are they hitting someone and being ignorant? This is so disrespectful and makes them look like a criminal. Is this common in Japanese broadcasts? Really?”
- “I really don’t vibe with Japanese vibes…”
- “I mean it’s their culture so do whatever, but in my eyes this doesn’t look good. There are bunch of other ridicule for female idols too, but it doesn’t look good doing whatever you please just for humor.”
- “Have they gone mad these crazy these b*stards.”
- “Regardless of culture, we should be able to speak out about things if they are weird and wrong.”
- “Isn’t Sakuya born in 2007? Although it is a rude action despite age, what are they doing to a kid…so rude.”
- “This is why I dislike Japanese entertainment. They go overboard with rude actions just for the laughs.”
- “Is this common in Japan? Horrible.”
- “In Japan these do that and buy time for them to speak, but people in Korea might find this uncomfortable.”
- “That show is known for things like this. They aren’t doing this because they are a K-pop group…they do this to their country’s celebrities too.”
- “What is this? What kind of culture is this?”
- “After seeing one molka episode, I wished that K-Pop idols would only go to Japan to sing.”
Other netizens stated that this was the way Japanese entertainment shows are like and that rookies usually are seen at the bottom on variety shows, so the host’s actions actually were them giving him a bit of the spotlight.
