Family Of Nine All Perished In Jeju Air Plane Crash

It was recently confirmed that a family of nine — including two high school students and their younger brother — all lost their lives in the Jeju Air plane crash at Muan International Airport on December 29.

On December 30, Sejong City officials and the local education office announced that two sisters, students at Jang Young Sil High School, were among the 175 victims aboard flight 7C2216. The sisters, who were in their second and third years at the school, were part of a larger family group traveling together to celebrate their grandfather’s 80th birthday.

The crash claimed the lives of their entire family, including their mother, younger brother, grandparents, and an aunt’s family. The girls’ high school shared the devastating news with its students, which has left the community in deep mourning.

A joint memorial altar is being prepared at the education office to pay respects to the victims. Sejong City has also decided to send a condolence team to Muan to support affected families and offer respect to the victims.

In light of the tragedy, several planned city events have been canceled or postponed. Mayor Choi Min Ho’s annual briefing has been rescheduled for January 6, and New Year’s sunrise celebrations have been called off. May the victims rest in peace.
