Popular Actress Garners Mixed Response For Posting Photos During National Mourning Period

Actress Jeon Jong Seo has been caught up in a controversy again.
On December 30, she posted several photos on Instagram with the caption, “Filming today too…” The photos revealed her posing for selfies in the car.
Although these photos would have been fine any other time, many felt that posting them during the mourning period for the Jeju Air plane crash was inappropriate.
Although most people were against posting on social media during this time, several felt that forced mourning was also excessive.
- “Normal people can get away with it, but celebrities should be more cautious. They aren’t celebrities for nothing. Being careful during times like this is a part of their image.”
- “Posting on social media doesn’t mean that they aren’t mourning. Looking at their every move is so suffocating. You guys are all finding out about this through community boards, too. You guys say that celebrities should be different, yet here you are on a community board criticizing them.”

With the continuous debate, Jeon Jong Seo ended up deleting the photos.
Meanwhile, the South Korean government has declared a 7-day national mourning period after Jeju Air Flight 2216 crashed at Muan International Airport on December 29.
