Girl Group Rapper Reveals New Life After Being “Out Of Work” For Years
In the latest episode of “Takspatch” on comedian Tak Jae Hoon‘s YouTube channel, No Bbaku Tak Jae Hoon (romanized from 노빠꾸탁재훈), OG girl group Jewelry‘s rapper member Ha Ju Yun (also Ha Joo Yeon) shared an update about her life after K-Pop. After appearing on Show Me The Money 5 and Unpretty Rapstar 3, Ha remained relatively out of the spotlight.
When asked about how she has been since Jewelry’s official disbandment in 2015, Ha revealed that she has taken on a salesperson position at a kitchenware brand. According to Ha, she has pursued this non-celeb life for almost three years now.
In pursuit of a second chapter of my life, I started working at a kitchenware company. There, I sell spoons, forks, and other cutlery!
— Ha Ju Yun
Ha did note, though, that she had to choose a new line of work pretty quickly after the group disbanded because she “didn’t want to be out of a job at 39 years old.” She made it clear that she has not yet retired from the K-Entertainment industry, and that her sales work is more to put food on the table.
Tak Jae Hoon: So, you’re retired from the industry, then?
Ha Ju Yun: Retired? I’m not retired. Why would I retire?
Shin Kyu Jin: Oh, then you would like to keep working?
Ha Ju Yun: Of course. I only took on the salesperson position because I wasn’t getting any work [from the entertainment business]. I’m 39. I can’t be out of a job at this age.
Ha’s last performance was on tvN‘s Mama The Idol for former leader Park Jung Ah, who participated in the show.
