Jonghyun’s mini-album “Base” sweeps charts domestically and internationally
SHINee member Jonghyun recently made his solo debut with mini-album BASE, which has swept weekly charts both domestically and internationally upon its January 12th release.
Various music charts including Hanteo and Hot Tracks Korea, as well as online stores Synnara and Yes24 have reported that Jonghyun’s mini-album has swept their weekly charts from January 12th to 18th, indicating an overwhelming response from the listeners for Jonghyun’s solo debut.
His success was not limited to Korea either, as Taiwanese music store FIVE MUSIC reported that BASE grabbed the number one spot for the week of January 9th to 15th on the Japanese-Korean sales chart. The mini-album is also the #1 album in Japan and on iTunes’ worldwide albums chart, and #2 on Billboard’s world albums chart, demonstrating his hot success internationally.
In addition to the success of his mini-album, the music video for “Guilty Pleasure” was the number one music video on Chinese media site iQIYI, further demonstrating his international presence as an artist.
In other news, Jonghyun took his first music show wins on Inkigayo and Music Core last weekend with “Déjà Boo” and also released the dance practice video for his B-Track “Hallelujah.”
