J.Y. Park’s Comments On ITZY Lia’s Return From Hiatus Triggers Mixed Reactions
J.Y. Park has earned mixed reactions for comments on ITZY Lia‘s recent return from hiatus.
In September 2023, it was announced that Lia would go on hiatus to address health concerns.
The company revealed that she was experiencing tension and anxiety during her busy schedule, and after consulting with a specialist, she was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.
The idol made a return about ten months after her hiatus was announced, and was included in the group’s most recent comeback, “Gold.”
While ITZY was not in attendance at the first day of the “2024 MAMA Awards,” they were brought up during a pre-show interview with J.Y. Park, who was one of the night’s performers.
The interviewer asked J.Y. Park how he felt about Lia’s return to activities, and he responded that “That’s how ITZY should look like.”
This answer is positive and true, however, many had mixed feelings about his response.
Many were excited over the acknowledgement, and also shared similar feelings about Lia’s return.
Others thought his reaction felt too brief, as in the previous section of the video he praised others for a longer amount of time.

JYP Entertainment has been criticized for its treatment of ITZY before in the past, and as founder and partial owner, J.Y. Park has been included in this.
