JYP Entertainment Artists Continue To Disappoint With Their Chart Performance
JYP Entertainment, one of the leading K-Pop agencies, has recently faced criticism over the underwhelming chart performances of its artists.
Despite the company’s reputation and the success of its groups in previous years, 2024 has proven to be a challenging year for JYPE’s lineup.
A viral post on social media has brought attention to the highest daily chart rankings of JYPE artists on Melon, one of South Korea’s most significant music platforms. The numbers reveal a disappointing trend across the board.
TWICE’s latest title track, “One Spark,” peaked at 114th place. NMIXX‘s “DASH” only made it to 100th. Stray Kids, despite their global popularity, saw “Chk Chk Boom” rank 120th. Nayeon’s solo effort “ABCD” reached 94th. ITZY’s “UNTOUCHABLE” could only achieve 101st.
Adding to the concern, several tracks from JYPE’s other artists, including Xdinary Heroes‘ “Young, Shy, and Foolish,” NEXGE‘s “Ride the Vibe,” and NiziU‘s “Rise Up,” failed to even break into the top 1000 on the daily chart.
DAY6 managed to reach 17th with “Welcome To The Show,” the best performance among the JYPE roster.
The disappointing chart performances have sparked a wave of criticism online. Many netizens have pointed out the lack of effective promotion and questioned the choice of title tracks, particularly for groups like ITZY and NMIXX.
Others noted the absence of viral marketing strategies that have become commonplace in the industry.
- “NMIXX’s ranking for “Dash” is really disappointing, really. LOL. I thought the song was good, haha.”
- “TWICE, please promote more. I’m a fan and even I wouldn’t know if they had a comeback unless I actively looked up information. And to be honest, even with DAY6, it’s not like they got popular because of good promotion; they just got popular on their own. Their music videos are low quality, and the audio quality is poor…”
- “ITZY is in the worst situation. “Untouchable” and “Mr. Vampire”? Why did they even choose these as title tracks? I’m genuinely confused, LOL.”
- “All their songs are just not good anymore…”
- “It doesn’t seem like JYPE is doing any viral marketing or chart manipulation. It’s not like they don’t have the money to do it, so should they be mocked for not doing it? At this point, everyone knows you can buy your way up the charts with money.”
- “NMIXX’s “Dash” is really awesome, but it’s a shame. It’s one of my favorite K-Pop songs this year.”
- “Stray Kids are on the Hot 100 and doing well overseas, right? The same goes for TWICE… It seems like we’re no longer in an era where everything is judged solely based on domestic streaming charts. And I guess JYPE doesn’t do chart manipulation.”
- “Stray Kids and TWICE already have established fanbases and are doing well, but I wish NMIXX could release more mainstream songs.”
The post and comments reflect a growing frustration with JYP Entertainment’s current strategies and hope for better performance in the future. What are your thoughts?
