While many have been anticipating and are excited over the group’s upcoming debut, some have pointed out some details that seem unlikely to be coincidences.

According to the group’s account, they will first release a pre-release a single titled “Umm Great” on January 6, and have already shared the music video for the track.

Also announced was their official debut date, January 20, along with details of their albums and an official scheduler.

While these dates might not initial stand out to some, fans of GOT7 have pointed out some coincidences.

GOT7 initially debuted under JYP Entertainment in 2014 where they remained until 2021 with the conclusion of their contracts. In the time after, Jay B, worked to get the group’s trademarks transferred, an unprecedented first in K-Pop. While there has not been open discussion of any bad blood between the members and the company, many fans have negative feelings about how the group was treated while under JYP.

GOT7 Makes History As All Trademark Rights Are Reportedly Officially Transferred To The Seven Members

The first coincidence fans pointed out was that the pre-release was scheduled for January 6, which is Jay B’s birthday. The second is that KickFlip’s debut is set for the same day as GOT7’s long awaited comeback, their first in three years.

These details, along with others like the group being made up of seven members and them potentially including martial arts in their release, seemed unlikely to be coincidences to fans. Many have criticized JYP, rather than the members of KickFlip, for seemingly “petty” behavior.

It is known that companies sometimes will go to lengths to “punish” their former idols, and it seems fans of GOT7 believe this may be occurring now.
