KATSEYE Address Their Controversial Netflix Docuseries

There appears to be no hard feelings now.

On August 21, Netflix premiered the anticipated docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE. It follows the formation of the K-Pop-trained HYBE and Geffen Records international girl group KATSEYE.

However, the docuseries has been met with mixed reactions after Manon was introduced. Many fans jumped to her defense, claiming she was mistreated.

Netizens have been disturbed by the docuseries, feeling that it’s setting up KATSEYE for sabotage, as it doesn’t paint the members positively. Many members have received hate since its premiere, and fans are concerned the docuseries is creating solo stans more than anything.

it literally made some of the members seem mean when it was unnecessary, like we understood the situation with manon well enough. This will literally start fandom wars and pit the girls against eachother and will be a controversy they’ll never overcome. #fyp #katseye #hybexgeffen #hybe #bts #kpop #manon #sophia #lara #yoonchae #megan #daniela #girlgroup #netflix

In a live broadcast, the KATSEYE members addressed their docuseries. Lara recognized that it was intense at the time due to the competition, but the feelings are currently so different. The members also admitted they got vulnerable and comfortable with the cameras, as they were so busy that they didn’t always “look their best.”

Netizens commented on the now-viral clip, pointing out that time has passed and the girls are older now (some were even underage during filming). It’s natural for any friends, especially young ones, to fight and make up.
