KATSEYE Blows Up In South Korea, Surprising Fans

They’re gaining recognition!

KATSEYE officially made their debut on June 28, 2024, with the song “Debut.” The song did not face popularity in the Korean markets, even making a slow creep internationally.

With the release of “Touch” and the concurrent drop of their Netflix reality, Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, the girls began catching the eye of many globally, and in South Korea. A tweet on X about maknae Yoonchae went absolutely viral in South Korea with over 2 million hits.

Yoonchae didn’t know a lick of English and was thrust into a global group, so she’s been learning English for survival even though she’s only a 07-er baby. Ever since I read that about her on Namu Wiki, I’ve been cheering for her silently.

She became a fast favorite amongst South Koreans not because of her nationality, but because of her hardwork in adapting to a new environment, her talents, and her visuals! Yoonchae was quickly acknowledged as part of the visual-line alongside Manon.

The other members have also been getting hit tweets in Korean. Sophia was lauded for her visuals.

I love how someone born in 2002 with this physique and face ended up auditioning for HYBE x GEFFEN’s global girl group and made it to debut.
