Though it is a famous program in South Korea where present-day artists cover legendary songs, netizens noticed that the event has garnered a less than enthusiastic response in terms of ticket sales.

A quick glance at the TicketMaster website reveals that there are still many available seats left.

They mentioned a few reasons why this might be so.

1. The Lineup

First up, the lineup of the concert may be one of the biggest explanations as to why there is a lack of buzz surrounding the event.

Featuring: PSY, ATEEZ, NewJeans, Lena Park, Kim Tae Woo, YOUNGTAK, Jannabi and Patti Kim.

Though every singer is renowned, only a few have public recognition in the United States such as Psy, ATEEZ, and NewJeans.

K-Pop fans also tend to be either casual listeners who are not eager to spend hundreds of dollars on a K-Pop event or dedicated fans of just a few artists. For the latter, a four-hour concert divided by eight groups and soloists would mean their favorites will only be able to perform a few songs. They may instead choose to wait for their solo concerts to “get more bang out of their buck.”

2. The Venue

The event’s other big problem is its venue. The MetLife Stadium has a capacity of 82,500 seats, around half of which is used for concerts. Many believe that this venue specifically is “way too big” and “certainly ambitious” for the organizers.

In fact, this likely holds true for all K-Pop artists except a select few. BLACKPINK, for instance, was just the third female artist in history to sell out two day concerts at the MetLife Stadium following Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.

Netizens added that the Immortal Songs organizers should have gone for a smaller venue. Instead of a stadium, they would have had better chances of selling out an arena which typically holds 5,000 to 20,000 people.

3. The Ticket Prices

Finally, the other possible reason for Immortal Songs’ slow ticket sales is their high prices. Considering the poor visibility of stadium seats and the artist lineup, netizens expected tickets to be cheaper. Instead, it ranges from $59 USD to a whopping $599 USD.

On the other hand, some have pointed out that it is likely not the organizer’s priority to sell out the concert anyway considering its purpose.

The famous performance competition TV show is coming to MetLife Stadium for a special edition commemorating the 120th anniversary of Korean immigration to the U.S.

Moreover, ticket selling only began on September 18. Whether or not Immortal Songs can improve their sales or even sell out is something that only time will tell.
