KBS Rejects IZ*ONE Anti-Fans’ Petition To Ban Them From Music Bank
On February 17, IZ*ONE made a comeback with the song “Fiesta”.
The girl group was originally scheduled to return to the music scene on November 2019, but they had to delay their plans because of Mnet‘s voting manipulation controversy.
According to Hanteo Charts, IZ*ONE’s latest album has already sold a total of 184,000 copies. The title song “Fiesta” has also taken the No. 1 spot in several real-time charts including Melon, Genie, and Olleh.
IZ*ONE is expected to perform in KBS‘s Music Bank on February 21. In spite of the positive reception they are currently receiving from many fans, several anti-fans have filed a petition to ban them from performing on the 21st.
The netizen who instigated the petition wrote,
Is it right to have KBS, a public broadcaster operated by people’s taxes, cast a group made up of manipulation?
– K-Netizen
Over 5,000 people reportedly signed the petition in four days.
In response, an official from KBS announced that IZ*ONE’s appearance will push through.
There will be no change in the appearance of IZ*ONE in Music Bank.
– KBS Official
This isn’t the first time IZ*ONE’s anti-fans have petitioned to ban them from a broadcast. Last November, a petition banning IZ*ONE from Music Bank was signed by over 44,000 people.
