Rookie Boy Group Apologizes To Extremist TWICE Fans—JYPE Slammed For “Overreacting”

“This is absurd.”

On January 31, 2025 (KST), JYP Entertainment (JYPE)’s new boy group KickFlip held a 41-minute long YouTube live from their practice room. The livestream started off like all idol livestreams do, with the members greeting their fans and interacting with fan comments.

It was toward the end of the livestream when KickFlip members brought up their Idol Radio appearance, where some members could not perfectly re-create TWICE‘s “Cheer Up” choreography during a “Guess The Song”-esque game.

The members admitted that they were somewhat underprepared—especially because the songs were selected at random—explaining they were nervous about playing the game in front of so many fans. Repeating “We’re sorry” over and over again, the rookie idols blamed themselves for not knowing what they “should have known,” promising to re-do the covers after the livestream.

After the livestream, K-Pop fans slammed JYPE for making KickFlip apologize for “baseless hate” while also criticizing some extremist fans who nitpicked the members. A handful of skeptic fans wondered if the apology was some sort of a marketing scheme, noting that if such was the case, it was also a poorly planned move on JYPE’s part.

  • “JYPE should’ve ignored this one… NGL, it kind of feels like viral marketing. LOL.”
  • “This is so over-the-top. Is this some sort of a marketing scheme?”
  • “No… The members were actually getting hate. There’s a group on Twitter going crazy in the RTs. We’re all waiting for them to drop out of the fandom.”
  • “Yeah, it feels intentional to me. Because of the apology, this rookie group ended up going viral across online communities. If it wasn’t for marketing, there’s no reason for JYPE to make the members apologize. JYPE has been in the business far too long. They know what they’re doing.”
  • “How would this ever work as marketing, though? This is absurd.”

  • “JYPE should know by now, after decades in the business, that they can just ignore baseless hate like this. But they always overreact, force their idols to apologize, and create unnecessary controversies. This isn’t the first time. I wish JYPE would stop hurting the idols and their fans for no reason.”
  • “WTF? They actually apologized for something like this?”
  • “KickFlip is Center 3… They’re literally giving me PTSD with all the apologies.”
  • “JYPE must be out of its mind.
  • “K-Pop idol culture is so weird these days.”
  • “Apologize? FOR THIS???”
