It was recently revealed that JYJ‘s Kim Junsu had been a victim of extortion. An Afreeca streamer allegedly extorted over ₩800 million KRW (approximately $569,000 USD) across 101 instances between September 2020 and October 2024 from Kim Junsu.

Investigations revealed that after meeting Kim Junsu in 2019, the streamer threatened to release audio recordings of conversations involving sexual content, demanding money in exchange for not making them public.
Junsu addressed the issue through messages with fans where he claimed to be a victim.
