Kim Nam Gil Spills The Secret Of His Friendship With BTS’s Jin
Actor Kim Nam Gil recently appeared on the popular variety program You Quiz On The Block and talked about his unexpected friendship with BTS‘s Jin.
One of the earliest glimpses that fans got of these two stars’ friendship is in a vlog on BTS‘s channel, where Jin attended the premiere of Kim’s movie Emergency Declaration. During the event, Jin revealed that he had a meal with Kim only once before.
Despite being early in their friendship, the vlog showed a heartwarming dynamic between the two, with Kim taking care of Jin amidst unfamiliar company.
Fans witnessed their friendship’s progress during Jin’s Traditional Alcohol Diary series, where the BTS member learned the art of making traditional Korean alcohol from veteran Korean alcohol artisan Park Rok Dam. Jin unexpectedly invited Kim to join him and celebrity chef Baek Jong Won during the last two episodes, and the actor ended up coming.
Even before becoming friends with Kim, Jin had often named him as one of his biggest inspirations behind his dream of pursuing acting.
Now, Kim Nam Gil has given his perspective on his friendship with the BTS member, revealing his genuine personality and the common quality that brought them closer.
During the September 20 episode of You Quiz On The Block, host Yoo Jae Seuk mentioned that Kim Nam Gil’s portrayal of Bi Dam in Queen Seondeok(2009) was so impactful that it influenced many to become actors, including Jin. Kim admitted that becoming a role model for Jin added somewhat of a pressure on his mind to lead a meaningful life and honor this acknowledgment.
However, Kim implied that when he met Jin in person, the pressure eased quickly. He joked that the BTS member had probably already realized that he and Kim were similar people.
When the host asked how they were similar, Kim said they both like to talk. Sometimes, Jin talks so much that it is hard even for him to interrupt.
