Kim Sae Ron Denies Claiming Financial Difficulty After Her DUI Case Sentencing
Actress Kim Sae Ron has been at the forefront of one controversy after another since her DUI incident in May 2022. She crashed into a transformer box in the Cheongdam neighborhood of Gangnam, and her blood alcohol level was six times higher than Korea’s legal limit of 0.03%.
After the actress was brought to court over this crime, she pleaded leniency for her case, claiming that she was facing financial hardships and working part-time at a café to provide for her family as its sole breadwinner. Kim then posted a bunch of pictures of her working at a place called Mega Coffee on her Instagram.
But immediately after her updates, a representative of the brand told the media that Kim has never been employed at any of their outlets in the entire country.
Mega Coffee Calls Out Kim Sae Ron, Claiming She Never Actually Worked For Their Company
Recently, Dispatch delivered another blow to Kim’s claims of financial difficulty after publishing multiple photos of her playing poker at a pub.
On April 5, KST, Kim Sae Ron appeared at the Seoul Central District Court for her sentencing for the DUI case. She was indicted on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act by driving under the influence of alcohol and was fined ₩20.0 million KRW (about $15,300 USD) for it.
After the court session, Kim spoke to the media and admitted that she was driving under the influence but gave an ambiguous statement about her financial situation. She denied ever saying that she was having financial difficulties but immediately followed it up by saying she was indeed working part-time and the fine was a lot for her to cover.
It was true that I drove under the influence, and I was wrong for that, so I have nothing to say. I will make sure nothing like this happens again in the future. I never claimed I was struggling financially. It is true that I’m currently working part-time and that the penalty fee cost a lot.

She claimed that there is a lot of “false news” being reported about her, but she can’t explain it because she’s “too scared.”
Her statement goes completely against what her lawyer, Min Gi Ho, stated in court while asking for a lighter sentence for his client.
Kim Saeron is the breadwinner of her family. She is currently suffering from financial difficulties because of the compensation fee she had to pay for the accident. She is currently working part-time to make ends meet.
