Dieting As A Singer Vs. An Actor: Kim Sejeong Exposes Which Takes A Greater Toll On Her
The Uncanny Counter 2 actress Kim Sejeong finally made a comeback as a singer after over two years. She sang her new songs in Lee Mujin’s Service, talking about various topics in between.
One of the first things the host noticed about her was the change in her appearance. Lee Mujin suggested that she looked different in K-Dramas versus in person. Sejeong agreed with his observation, saying that the person on screen is unrecognizable to her.
Actually, when I’m in a drama, I feel like I’m not myself.

She added that her physical appearance is different as well. Sejeong admitted that she often puts herself through a strict diet because she has a hard time maintaining a low number on the scale.
Plus, I lost a lot of weight [recently] but only for a short-term. For me, it’s hard to keep my weight down.
— Kim Sejeong
As an idol and actress at the same time, she noticed that there is a difference between the way she diets while preparing for a K-Drama versus a comeback. When it comes to the former, her weight tends to fluctuate over the course of the show due to how long it takes to complete.
If you watch my drama, the effect [of dieting] comes and goes.
— Kim Sejeong
For an album promotion, however, she only has a few weeks of being constantly in front of various cameras. This puts an immense amount of pressure on her to crash diet in order to look her best while singing, attending variety shows, filming content, and more.
But the album [promotion] is really short. So I go on a real tight diet.
— Kim Sejeong
Thus, while she is constantly worried about her weight, it is the singing side of her career that makes her more conscious of how she looks.
Lee Mujin: You’re right, an album lasts less than three months.
Kim Sejeong: From around week three of promotion…a different face starts to appear on camera. The shorter the promotion, the better.
