Netflix Announces Kim Seon Ho’s Anticipated Comeback K-Drama
Actor Kim Seon Ho, known for K-Dramas Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Start-Up, is making his small screen comeback after three years!
Kim Seon Ho had rose to stardom with these roles, but after Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, he became subject to scandal. At the time, he was also a cast member of the hit KBS 2TV variety show 2 Days & 1 Night, which followed celebrity men as they took trips across South Korea. He departed after the scandal and has been slowly returning to entertainment after Dispatch revealed the truth.
Kim Seon Ho’s first significant acting role since then was in the play Touching the Void and the film The Childe (originally titled Sad Tropics). The actor even held his first-ever fanmeeting in 2022. Most recently, he appeared in BIGBANG‘s Daesung‘s new MV and made his variety TV comeback on Mukbo Brothers 2.

Now, K-Drama fans are happy to hear he has been confirmed for a new Netflix show!
Kim Seon Ho will star in the new Netflix original K-Drama, Can This Love Be Translated? as a translator, Joo Ho Jin, alongside Go Youn Jung, known for Alchemy of Souls, Sweet Home, and Moving. The script is written by the Hong sisters, who are famous for many beloved K-Dramas: My Girl, You’re Beautiful, My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, The Greatest Love, Master’s Sun, A Korean Odyssey, Hotel del Luna, and Alchemy of Souls. Yoo Young Eun, who has worked on several dramas, such as Descendants of the Sun, will serve as director.
According to news coverage on December 5, 2019, the Hong sisters (Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran) were initially preparing a drama with the working title Can This Person Interpret? (Korean: 이 사람 통역이 되나요?) in collaboration with Director Park Jun-hwaset to be broadcast on the cable channel tvN. The working title was later revised to Interpretation of Salvation(Korean: 구원의 통역), and the overseas shooting location was said to be in China. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, the project faced delays, and no further updates were provided. It is worth noting that the Hong Sisters and Park later worked together on a different drama titled Alchemy of Souls in 2021 and 2022.

Netflix released a first look, revealing photos from the cast’s script reading. While Go Youn Jung will portray actress Cha Moo Hee, Choi Woo Sung will play her manager, Kim Yong Woo. Sota Fukushi and Lee Yi Dam will also star. This K-Drama will consist of ten episodes.
Can This Love Be Translated? is a romantic comedy that revolves around Joo Ho-jin, a skilled multilingual interpreter who becomes the personal interpreter for top actress Cha Moo-hee. Cha Moo-hee and Joo Ho-jin hold contrasting perspectives on love, resulting in misunderstandings. However, as they gradually grow closer, their conversations become increasingly enjoyable, leading to subsequent moments of understanding.

As soon as the news dropped, netizens were highly supportive. They are excited about Kim Seon Ho’s comeback and anticipate seeing him and Go Youn Jung on screen together. Initially, Son Suk Ku was offered the lead role in 2023, but a few months later, Kim Seon Ho and Han So Hee were reportedly in talks to lead the drama.

Reportedly, Kim Seon Ho will also star in the new Disney+ K-Drama The Tyrant. This will likely premiere before Can This Love Be Translated?, as The Tyrant is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2024.
