A recent incident at a Korean daycare has caused widespread outrage after a teacher was found abusing a three-year-old child with a brain tumor.
The shocking revelations came to light following an investigation by YTN on July 23.
The abuse came to attention when the daycare teacher, under police investigation, was accused of repeatedly hitting a three-year-old child who had refused to take cold medicine. To make matters worse, the particular child required special attention and care because he was born with a brain tumor — a fact that had been communicated to the daycare by the parents.
Despite these instructions, the teacher ignored the parents’ requests and subjected the child to physical abuse.
CCTV footage acquired by the media shows the teacher attempting to give the child medicine. When the child turned away, spilling it, the teacher responded by hitting their face with a wet wipe.
The footage further reveals the teacher pretending to clean the child’s face while repeatedly striking her, causing the child to fall back and cry in pain. The teacher continued this abusive behavior, even pushing the child’s face after making her lie down to administer the medicine, leaving visible red marks on the child’s cheeks.
The parents, suspicious of their child’s injuries, reviewed the daycare’s CCTV and uncovered the disturbing actions of the teacher.
Unfortunately, that’s not all. Further analysis of four months of CCTV footage by the police revealed that this was not an isolated incident. The teacher had also abused another girl at the daycare, engaging in physical abuse and force-feeding the children on 26 separate occasions over a two-month period.
In an attempt to cover up the abuse, the teacher falsely recorded in the child’s daily report that the injuries were due to the child falling while playing. Under police custody, the teacher admitted to abusing the children due to job stress.
The case has now been handed over to the prosecution, and while the daycare director was cleared of negligence, the parents are planning to submit a petition demanding strict punishment for the teacher. You can watch the full YTN video below:
