Korean Grandmother Attempts To Murder Her Teenage Grandson
A grandmother in her 70s has been arrested in Daegu after allegedly attacking her teenage grandson with a weapon and then attempting to harm herself. Authorities are currently investigating the case.
The tragic incident took place at around noon on September 3 in an apartment in Dalseo District, Daegu. The grandmother — referred to as Ms. A — is facing charges of attempted murder after reportedly assaulting her grandson —a middle school student identified as Mr. B — with a sharp object.
According to reports, B had not attended school that day and had gone to visit Ms. A’s apartment, which is located in the same apartment complex, though in a different building. During the visit, Ms. A suddenly attacked him inside the home. The grandson managed to escape the apartment and flee outside, where a passerby saw the situation and alerted the police.
Both Ms. A and her grandson were taken to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, neither sustained life-threatening injuries, according to medical personnel.
It has been suggested that Ms. A had been under significant stress for a prolonged period, particularly due to issues related to raising her grandson. However, the specific motive behind the violent incident is still under investigation.
Police plan to further question Ms. A once she is in a stable condition, and they are also gathering statements from other family members to better understand what led to the event.
