Korean Public Flames Kim Soo Hyun’s Agency For Questioning Kim Sae Ron Whistleblower’s Identity
On March 18, KST, Kim Soo Hyun‘s agency, Gold Medalist, published a lengthy, 12-page statement in response to the claims made by Kim Sae Ron‘s bereaved family during a press conference the day before.
In the statement, Gold Medalist questioned the identity of the woman who first spoke up against Kim Soo Hyun, exposing his alleged relationship with Kim Sae Ron when she was just 15. The informant was introduced to the public as Kim Sae Ron’s aunt on the Garosero Research Institute channel on YouTube.
Gold Medalist has questioned the credibility of this informant, raising questions about whether she was biologically related to Kim Sae Ron.
Garo Sero Institute referred to the whistleblower who leaked Kim Soo Hyun’s private life as “Kim Sae Ron’s aunt.” However, other media reports have stated that the whistleblower is not actually her [biological] aunt. During the press conference, the bereaved family stated, “The deceased’s mother does not have a married sister [aka an aunt]. Instead, the aunt who was recently interviewed is someone like a mother to Sae Ron, even more than her real mother.” They described her as “closer than a real aunt.” In the media, when someone is called an “aunt,” it generally refers to the mother’s sister. Whether the whistleblower is an actual relative or simply a close acquaintance will significantly impact public trust in the information shared through the media. However, during the press conference, the bereaved family was unclear about whether the whistleblower is truly a relative or just someone close to the family.

The agency also added that according to “several industry insiders,” the whistleblower in question was the “mother of a different actor.”
While the agency claimed that it was scrutinizing the whistleblower’s identity to establish bigger holes in the arguments presented by Kim Sae Ron’s family, netizens are completely unmoved by this tactic. Instead, many found it redundant and called out the company for “obsessing” over this minor detail instead of addressing the bigger elephants in the room. Others also pointed out that Kim Soo Hyun himself had once introduced his half-brother as his cousin to the media and pointed out the hypocrisy in Gold Medalist’s attempt to nitpick the informant’s identity.
