Korean Woman Sentenced To Prison After Making False Rape Accusations Against Her Former Boss/Boyfriend
A Korean woman has been arrested after making false rape and sexual assault claims against her former work supervisor.
On April 7, the Chuncheon District Court sentenced a Korean woman, ‘Ms. A’ to a six month prison term after arresting her for false accusations and defamation against her former work supervisor, ‘Mr. B.’
Ms. A is reported to be a woman in her 40’s who made false accusations against Mr. B. She is said to have submitted a report to her company stating that, “beginning in April 2014, Mr. B has been touching me inappropriately and sending me ‘I miss you’ messages. It was later revealed, however, that the two had been involved in a romantic relationship and that the alleged rape claims were false. It was further reported that the two engaged in consensual sexual relations during their time together.
According to the police, the false rape accusations were made after malicious rumors began circulating at Ms. A’s workplace about her promiscuity. The rumors alleged that Ms. A had complicated relationships with men and that she manipulated them to help her with her work. At the time, Ms. A believed that Mr. B was responsible for the rumors. In an effort to exact revenge on him, she made the false rape and sexual assault allegations against Mr. B.
Mr. B was eventually fired from the company after these allegations were reported. Following his departure, Ms. A allegedly continued to lie to her co-workers about the false rape and sexual assault claims.
While Ms. A’s defense argued that the charges should not apply and that she is innocent, the court denied these arguments. The court stated that, “while this may be Ms. A’s first criminal offense, her actions were severe. It would be hard for her to avoid penalty. Ms. A continued to make these claims without any proof, causing further damage and pain to the victim. She failed to show signs of self-reflection.”
