In the video, the woman claimed to have spent approximately ₩9.00 million KRW (about $6,480 USD) on the abortion procedure and described enduring “120 hours in hell.” While many netizens condemned the act as “essentially murder” and accused the doctor of unethical behavior, some viewers speculated that the video might be a hoax. On August 12, a representative from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency held a press briefing, announcing that they had identified and booked the YouTuber who posted the video. In addition, the head of the hospital where the abortion took place had been booked as well.

The police initially tried to obtain the suspect’s information from Google, the parent company of YouTube, through a search and seizure warrant. However, their request was turned down. The authorities then conducted a thorough analysis of the woman’s YouTube content and collaborated with relevant agencies to pin down both the woman and the hospital involved.

The YouTuber, a woman in her 20s from a provincial area, has been questioned twice by the police and already admitted to the abortion. She got the procedure done at a Seoul hospital. The authorities have also conducted a search and seizure of relevant materials and concluded that the abortion video was authentic.

The police have confirmed that the fetus is no longer alive and have sent it for professional medical examination to determine the gestational age. Depending on the results, the incident could be classified as an abortion, murder, or stillbirth.

Police are still probing into the case for additional information. Stay tuned for updates.
