Singer Choi Sung Bong previously garnered viral attention after appearing on Korea’s Got Talent back in 2011. While the singer didn’t take the victory on the program, Choi Sung Bong became an internet sensation after his performance of “Nella Fantasia” received praise from all over the world. He was given the nickname “the next Susan Boyle” or “the next Paul Potts” and the count on his performance video has exceeded over 175 million views.
After many years of being relatively quiet, May 2020 brought forth unfortunate updates regarding the singer. It was revealed that Choi Sung Bong had been diagnosed with cancer that had spread into his colon, prostrate, thyroid, lungs, brain, and heart.
And as he updated his fans on his tragic condition, he recently began to receive negative attention from reporter Lee Jin Ho, as he started to get accused of faking his cancer diagnosis from the reporter.
Lee Jin Ho made claims that Choi Sung Bong bought the fake hospital gown that he was photographed in. He also claimed that the hospital records the singer uploaded onto his social media account was falsified as well.
While Choi Sung Bong tried his hardest to refute all of the accusations made by Lee Jin Ho, he started to receive endless malicious comments as soon as the reporter’s video went live. Not too long after Lee Jin Ho’s video, Choi Sung Bong shocked the public with what appears to be a suicide attempt.
In an unknown outside location, Choi Sung Bong recently recorded a live video for all of his followers while apologizing for the controversy. Due to the loud cars and other noises in the background, many netizens made claims that the singer was located on a bridge. In the video, Choi Sung Bong admitted that he felt “depression and panic” due to all of the “malicious comments” he endured for the past few days.
I suffered a lot the past few days because of the malicious comments. I felt a lot of depression and panic, while the urge to take my own life became more prevalent. I have been suppressing that feeling.

He continued his tearful video by emphasizing how “tired” he was of living.
I’ve been struggling with these feelings ever since I was little. I’m so tired now and I’ve been living a really hard life. But I think my fate ends here now.
