20 Scripts Later, Korea’s “Hottest Actor” Still Hasn’t Picked His Next K-Drama Role
Following an unprecedented rise to fame after his role as Sungjae in Lovely Runner, Byeon Woo Seok’s career seems stuck as he worries about what role to choose next.
The actor has now become a phenomenon in South Korea. Yet, it has been over half a year since his breakout role, and Byeon has still not figured out his next step.
Despite the buzz and fan anticipation surrounding his elusive next project, Byeon Woo Seok has not yet decided his next project. This approach is much different from other mega stars who had a similar rise to fame – Kim Soo Hyun and Park Bo Gum had already chosen their next role before their ongoing K-Drama had even finished filming!
His Lovely Runner co-star has also already started filming her next role amidst a myriad of offers.
While fans anticipate his next project as an actor, Byeon has kept busy with countless “model” and “ambassador” schedules. The actor has participated in over 15 ad campaigns for different brands, both popular domestically and worldwide.
Unfortunately — according to industry insiders — no work has piqued Byeon Woo Seok’s interest in acting yet.

Sports Donga even reported that no K-Drama roles are currently being discussed as ‘under consideration’ or ‘potential’ that Byeon is closely reviewing or adjusting the details of before confirming his appearance.
Despite allegedly receiving over 20 different series scripts from TV and OTT platforms, the actor is not rushing.
To secure Korea’s hottest actor, various K-Drama production companies are reportedly offering extraordinary conditions, such as adapting characters, settings, and even shooting schedules to suit Byeon Woo Seok and agreeing to pay whatever fees he asks.
His impact is so big that even other actors’ management companies are waiting for his decision. The reason? They would like their own artists to have a supporting role in whatever future series Byeon chooses to lead.
