The Highest K-Pop Girl Group Album Sales Of 2024 Show The Power Of “Mid-Sized” Companies
We’re nearly halfway through 2024 already, and in that time, pretty much all of the biggest girl groups in K-Pop right now have had some kind of release so far. From rookie groups like ILLIT and BABYMONSTER to more established artists like TWICE and ITZY, it has definitely been a great year for girl group stans!
K-Pop album sales have seemed to start to level out compared to last year’s many broken records, but plenty of artists are still making impressive numbers. And while boy groups tend to dominate the physical album sales numbers while girl groups tend to rock the digital charts, girl groups are far from making small sales numbers!
Unsurprisingly, artists from the “Big Four” labels — SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and HYBE Labels — tend to reign supreme when it comes to sales numbers. But interestingly, this year has seen not only some “mid-level” company artists ranking high in album sales, but actually surpassing the big label artists!
The K-Pop girl group album with the most first-week sales this year so far is 2 by (G)I-DLE, who is managed by Cube Entertainment. Released on January 29, it made nearly 1.54 million sales in its first week after release! At this time, it has sold around 1.68 million in total.
In second place is IVE‘s IVE SWITCH album, released on April 29. In its first week after release, it sold around 1.32 million units, and to date, it has sold a total of 1.68 million units.
The rest of the top ten girl group albums in first-week sales belong to “Big Four” artists. In third is aespa with Armageddon (1.15 million sold), fourth is TWICE with With YOU-th (1.06 million sold), and fifth is LE SSERAFIM with EASY (989k sold). You can see the rest of the top ten below.
Here’s how people are reacting to the two top-selling K-Pop girl groups being from non-“Big Four” labels!
Congratulations to all of the girl groups on this list!
